If you're anything like us, with Father's Day a little more than a week away you might be scratching your head wondering how to celebrate all that he's done for you over the year.
Have you considered a visit to Wangaratta?
We still have available accommodation in Wangaratta for Father's Day weekend, but better still as we come into Spring, we have quite a few weekends free you could gift as a voucher.
Why YouR Dad Will Love Wangaratta
Here are a few things your dad might enjoy doing in and around Wangaratta this spring (I know I do):
The Wine
Wangaratta is in the heart of some of the great Victorian wine regions with King Valley, Rutherglen, Glenrowan and more just 10-30 minutes from Short Stops. Pick a direction for the day and you'll not be disappointed.
- South (~10 mins): Sam Miranda Wines, King Valley
- West (~20 mins): Booths Cellars, Tamnick
- North (~30 mins): Pfeiffer Wines, Rutherglen
The Beer
While the region is well established as a destination for wine lovers, in more recent years the craft brewers have started to arrive and now there are a bunch of great beers to sit back and enjoy on a warm spring afternoon. Just this year King River Brewing has opened up 15 minutes down the road and is worth a visit if you haven't checked it out yet. Other worth while stops in Wangaratta include The Malt Shed and Flown the Coop.
The Food
A visit to Wangaratta wouldn't be complete without a sampling some of the gourmet food around the area. The Milawa Cheese Factory is a must visit only 10 minutes out of Wangaratta, and the recently relocated King Valley Dairy is also worth a try.
The Great Outdoors
To help your dad feel like he's earned all this amazing food and drink, there are a whole range of outdoor activities to get into in and around Wangaratta this spring. A round of golf, a day fishing, a ride on any of the great cycling trails or just a walk around the region's trails .. The last thing he'll be is bored.
All of this is less than a 3 hour drive from Melbourne!
